As a buyer, working with a Realtor® typically comes at no cost to you. That's because the seller of the home you're purchasing usually pays the Realtor® fees.
Here's an example to show how the seller's proceeds are calculated after paying both the buyer's agent (also called the selling agent) and the seller's agent (listing agent):
This example assumes a total commission of 7% on the first $100,000 of the sale price and 2.5% on the remaining balance. The commission is then split approximately as follows:
